Victoria Beckham Launches Dress Line

Like any good entrepreneur, Victoria Beckham is trying to expand her brand to reach as many people as possible. Her solution? Start a lower-priced line of dresses, so people who can’t shell out $1,400 or more for her main collection have the option of spending $550 to $900 on a dress from Victoria by Victoria Beckham. Also? The collection is inspired by Emily the Strange, that black and white cartoon of a sulky, badass girl who wanders around with cats.
But back to the price point. The whole point of a diffusion collection is that it’s supposed to diffuse a brand over a wider range of people, but with prices like that (and, according to Women’s Wear Daily, some pieces cost as much as $1,300), Beckham isn’t diffusing anything, so much as she’s giving her regular clients a reprieve from the tyranny of the multi-thousand dollar body conscious dress. Still, we like the name: Victoria by Victoria Beckham rolls off the tongue just as well as Marc by Marc Jacobs or Michael Michael Kors.

And the clothes are good, or at least the ones we’ve seen so far are good — hyper feminine and not as sleekly buttoned up as Beckham’s other dresses. Beckham told WWD timeline of their creation is right in line with her current pregnancy. She’s having a girl this time around, and, accordingly, the new threads comprise “the most girly collection I’ve ever created.”
“These are the kind of dresses I’ve been searching for,” notes Beckham, who admits to being her own archetypal customer. If she won’t wear it, it doesn’t make the line. “The perfect little summer dress, something that was fun, something that was girly, something that was easy to wear, something that would take you from day through the night.”
And hey — we like all those things. What we don’t like is not calling a spade a spade. While these prices might be lower than Beckham’s other clothing, they’re still pretty high as far as secondary designer line is concerned.

Nicole Richie' House of Harlow 1960 Launches Handbags

Nicole Richie’s lifestyle collection, House of Harlow 1960, will get a new addition come fall — in the form of clutches, hobos and cross-body bags.

The 14-piece collection, which will range in price from $150 for a red, hard-cased crocodile-printed clutch to $625 for a taupe and ivory burn-out pony hair hobo, has Richie’s personal style all over it.

“Handbags have always been a part of the equation since we first launched the House of Harlow 1960 brand,” she said. “We just needed to make sure all of the components were aligned before setting foot into that category. The collection is quite small in terms of the styles we are launching with. I wanted to make sure that each piece is special and then be able to grow it slowly and organically season after season.”

Ultimately, Richie’s vision for her handbag collection was to create pieces that were a mix of casual and luxe. To achieve this, she took materials like vintage leather and young calf hair and incorporated details such as fringes, toggles, triangle studs, velvet and crystallized jaguar head hardware (one of her favorite animals).

The Bohemian, Seventies-inspired line blends well with the rest of Richie’s offerings, which have grown to include jewelry, footwear, eyewear and contemporary clothing counterpart Winter Kate.

“When I design, I always try to design pieces that are universal, meaning anyone can wear and carry it. At this stage of my design process, I really try to gather direct feedback from my customers, whether through in-store personal appearances, my Web site, Twitter or Facebook. It really helps me when they provide me with their desires, feedback and comments on what they are looking for, so I can try my best to cater to their needs, yet stay true to the brand’s identity,” Richie said.

The handbag collection will be available mid-July at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Shopbop.com.

Ryan Dunn's boys have been dealing with the Jackass daredevil's death via auto accident in their own ways. He got a tattoo of Dunn's face.

"Jackass" star Ryan Dunn was colorful and fearless. Equally colorful were the tattoos the daring entertainer rocked at the height of his fame and success on TV and on film. Among his numerous tattoos were stars, red hot and exploding grenades and an Otter, to list four motifs.

Wee-Man chose to immortalize his pal with a portrait of Dunn smoking a cigarette on his leg with the words "Random Hero" written under it, and even documented his memorial making process. In the video, Wee-Man's explains the reasoning behind his unusual grieving process and says, "It's something he'd probably do for any one of us if it was one of us in the situation." Given Dunn's affinity for tattoos, we'd have to agree.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is the first of a trilogy based on the Swedish novels of Stieg Larsson

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is the first of a trilogy based on the Swedish novels of Stieg Larsson. The story, set in Sweden, follows Mikael (Michael Nyqvist), a journalist facing prison after being set-up, and Lisbeth (Noomi Rapace), a hacker on probation with a mysterious and troubled past. Their paths cross in the quest to solve a 15 year old cold-case disappearance. During which they encounter many twists, cover-ups, and close calls.

The novel begins in a slightly tedious manner which may prompt one to dump the book, but it is recommended that you continue because the pace then picks up and the story gets much more involving and intriguing. The Novel offers a mix of all emotions with interesting storytelling and ample number of characters and twists and turns to keep you hooked. Being a crime mystery novel, it mixes the intrigue with suspense, drama, disgust and some comic relief in portions. Reading the other books is hence... inevitable! This is one of the very good fiction books I've come across.

Sanjay Mathur has given review on fiction books on is associated with Simply Books which is an Booksore to buy books online at attractive discounts and free shipping by courier.

Originally (& rightfully) entitled Män som hatar kvinnor [Men Who Hate Women], there are some heinous actions depicted against women, especially Lisbeth. Swedish actress Noomi Rapace's portrayal of Lisbeth is astonishing and stands-outs in a film full of strong performances. Played with an edge, Lisbeth is often teetering on the border of sanity and despondency. Mikael and Lisbeth share a complicated bond and their relationship is handled deftly. Mikael falls in love almost instantaneously, Lisbeth however is reluctant. Understandable given her previous history with men. Their romantic link is filled with subtleties and dispassion, avoiding most clichés and expectations.

If the quality of the films stays consistent, Sweden will emerge as a foreign cinematic powerhouse.
