Duchess of Cambridge Wears McQueen at Black Tie

KATE’S BLACK TIE: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry all donned their black-tie attire Monday night, to attend A Night for Heroes — The Sun Military Awards at London’s Imperial War Museum.
The Duchess returned to her go-to house, Alexander McQueen, with a sleek, black, strapless velvet gown with a fishtail hem for the event. She accessorized the look with a graphic diamond necklace, which she wore with matching diamond earrings and a diamond bracelet. A spokesman for Clarence House said the jewelry was a wedding gift to Kate from a family friend. During a reception ahead of the awards dinner and ceremony, Kate mingled with service men and women who were guests at the ceremony.
The Sun newspaper holds the awards annually to honor members of the British armed forces and civilians involved with the forces. The royal guests were joined by a lineup that included Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife, Samantha; David Beckham and his sons, Brooklyn and Romeo; chef Gordon Ramsey, and a host of British television stars.
Princes William and Harry are both members of the armed forces — William is a search and rescue pilot in the Royal Air Force and Harry is training to become an Apache helicopter pilot with the Army Air Corps.
During the awards, Press Association reported that Prince Harry made a speech expressing “the admiration we feel for the extraordinary men and women we honor here tonight.” Harry also praised the families of those in the forces: “The strength and courage it must take to see your husband or your wife, your father or mother, son or daughter, head off into the unknown — and to support them doing it — I can hardly even imagine.”
